WEEK 3 – chapter 1
Learning objectives
CBIS consists of software, programs consist of the hardware,
databases, procedures, networks. Every department
in a company has its own set of sector related programmes – Finance has its own
set of financial programmes, human resources, production management, marketing
accounting etc… Besides internal programs – there is also the external programs
– such as the suppliers, Occupational health and safety.
IT has impacted all levels of an
organisation from lower workers that have to complete the data. To higher level workers that has to make the
decisions based on those data that was input by workers. Decision making is based on data that is verifiable. For Managers, the information can be used for
strategic planning, performance management etc.
Most notably these days are the ability to work remotely especially prevalent after COVID. The use of automated robots can have an impact in the medical field.
